Ashwagandha (botanical name: Withania somnifera) is a plant also known as Indian ginseng or winter cherry. Ashwagandha is one of the adaptogens, i.e. medicinal plants that help the body respond more effectively to many forms of stress.

This plant, especially its root, has been used for over 3,000 years as a natural Ayurvedic remedy for various ailments. Modern science combines it with health benefits such as reducing stress and anxiety and regulating blood sugar levels, improving mood and memory.

When does ashwagandha start working?

The results of most studies show the positive effects of using ashwagandha after 30 days of supplementation. A month of taking ashwagandha has a positive effect on blood sugar levels, muscle strength, and muscle hypertrophy, as well as reducing the level of stress and thus better sleep and regeneration.
Some of the effects of supplementation take a little longer. As research shows, improving sperm quality, increasing testosterone levels, reducing inflammation in the body, as well as reducing anxiety and improving memory, took place after 8 weeks of taking ashwagandha extract.
How quickly we notice the positive effect of this amazing adaptogen on our body also depends on the dose taken.
